New Moon in Scorpio - Digging Deep 🦂

It boggles my mind to see how fast 2019 has flown by as we now sit at the end of October in a year that has had many twists and turns, ups and downs, and at times confusing qualities that inspire us greatly one moment but also create doubt the next. I rarely meet someone these days that isn't going through a significant energetic shift in both their inner and outer worlds, and as we reach this pivotal time in the zodiacal cycle, the Universe is extending an offering to us to be able to accept this transition whole-heartedly while also clearing the way for what is to come.

Scorpio embodies a fixed water energy that is highly emotional and connection oriented, where it has a receptiveness that can pick up on the most subtle of qualities in an effortlessly penetrating approach. It thrives when it plunges the depths to investigate whatever is hidden below the surface or is being suppressed in some way, and in many regards this is a very valuable tool at this point in the year and in the transit cycles. As its strengths lie in addressing the subjects that no one wants to address, or topics that may seem to be taboo, it can be a little uncomfortable to navigate as there is a vulnerability there that is mixed with a bit of bite. Yet there is purpose in exposing what lies in the dark, for it helps us heal and transform areas that keep us from being in integrity and trusting the process of life.

Exact on Sunday, October 27th at 8:38pm PDT - this New Moon is providing a dynamic opportunity to dig deep in our lives and be able to prepare ourselves for the larger shifts that will be taking place once the winter eclipse season commences and the Saturn / Pluto conjunction seed in the latter half of December and through January. We can actively restructure the emotional modes of operation that keep us stuck in cyclical routines and patterns that may need to be broken out of at this time so we can stabilize the new growth we desire ahead. As Scorpio has the power to create and destroy, this will be a period where our intuition helps guide us further into what is to be nourished with unmatched focus and intensity and what needs to be cut out and freed for good in order to firm up and stabilize the new foundations ahead.

The Aspects - Stabilizing Shifts ⚡️

Below is a chart of our New Moon at the time of conjunction here in San Diego, CA. There is a lot of pivotal configurations that are seeding into this lunar cycle as we have our NM ruler Mars in an exact square to Saturn and the luminaries in opposition to Uranus. Mercury and Venus also sit side by side while Mercury prepares to take its underworld RX journey in just a few days time. So let's not waste any time and dive right in...

Where to start... where to start... well, I think the first obvious signature at play here is that both the Sun and Moon at 4° Scorpio is in exact opposition with Uranus in Taurus, which gives this lunation an electrical energy that is shaking and shifting the static and routine parts of our existence. The awakening impulses that Uranus brings to the table is likely to put us on edge a bit as we can feel certain bottoms falling out of scenarios that were once stable, and we may need an innovative approach to re-anchor the more permanent structures in our lives.

If you are wondering why there is an air of anxiety and overall restlessness during this period, you can thank Uranus for that heightened response system. Yet it can also provide us with lightbulb moments throughout this lunar season and it would be wise to keep a pen and paper handy. We will be alerted to what old routines and everyday modes of operation need to be freed up and liberated so we can move forward with a confidence and trust that this current reconfiguration has our best interests at heart. We may find that through this process our values shift and that is what drives the transitions we seek to make. It would be wise to do a value check while setting your NM intentions, for if you get clear on what holds inner worth to you, it will make it all that much easier to be receptive towards shaking things up.

Now another key factor we have here is that our NM ruler - Mars in Libra - is in an exact square with taskmaster Saturn in Capricorn. During a meditation I did the other day I channeled this message, "Aligning with fear won't help, but focused effort will." This really spoke to me, not only because I have this aspect natally in my own chart with Mars in an air sign square Saturn in an earth sign, but also because Mars in an overcoming position with Saturn which signifies action is needed to move this story forward. When Saturn and Mars meet it can be rather easy to drive with our foot on the brake the whole time, which can make us feel as if we are stuck and frustrated. Yet it also challenges us with the need to be decisive and get the body in motion.

Mars in Libra can be a bit heady and it may feel like our drive is pulled in two different directions as the pendulum of energy swings back and forth, yet there is a desired detachment here that can allow us to look at the bigger picture at play (especially as 1st Quarter on Mon 11/4 will be in futuristic Aquarius). We are turning a corner here with our commitments and moving from a place of inner truth will allow us to feel energized by this configuration rather than frustrated. Luckily Mars is in sign reception to Venus in Scorpio and both desire to do things differently... which brings us to our last configuration for this NM, and a main emphasis of this Scorpio season, Mercury stationing RX.

At the time of the NM, Mercury is becoming stronger and stronger in its stationary position as it is set to go RX 4 days later on Halloween. Yet right before the messenger embarks upon this shadow-y, underworld journey, it will seed with Venus the day prior, and where Mercury will have plenty of fodder to retrograde back over. We will further examine our values, desires and our overall quality of life with the question of whether we are aligning our compass towards healing our responses towards those truths. Mercury will go on to make sextiles with both Saturn and Pluto, while also trining into Neptune, providing the mental preparation needed to stabilize the new foundations that await while also being able to heal and let go of old black and white patterns of existence. You may want to look at where Scorpio lies in your chart and assess if the vantage point in this area of life has been too black and white, for we may need to find the gray and reorient ourselves into a better balance in this zone. These ongoing signatures will make this lunar cycle one of introspection in a way, as we may feel the pressure and restlessness, yet there is much that is still in need of review and reconfiguration before we can move forward with greater trust and security in our mission.

This imagery works so well in my mind, in regards to not only this lunar month but also the directional purpose that Saturn in Capricorn has been demanding of us for sometime. Many have experienced reconstruction in their life, sometimes of epic proportion, and now it is time to find our footing once again and firm up the foundations that give us that sense of security.

A firm and stable foundation is one that cannot be rushed, and that is important to remember in a time where we may feel more intense and passionate about driving the agenda forward. As the symbol aligns with a rocky shore, learning to navigate the emotional waves is what will make us stronger in our position over time. When we learn to deal with each crash that arrives at shore, we gain an invaluable resiliency that continues to polish our rocky edges over the annals of time. So feel into and find a receptivity for each wave that batters the shore, for you'll find with each intentioned crash you'll develop an improved and refined life luster.
