Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn - Practical Navigation đ
Pressure and responsibility... two things that tend to go hand in hand yet don't necessarily elicit a feeling of calm or contentedness. I tend to beat myself up about getting these moon articles out ahead of time so readers have a window of preparation to help gauge what is on the rise, yet I feel that maybe my perpetual procrastination is more lead by the fact that I want to feel the energies more deeply before I write about them, and sometimes you can't do that until you're in the thick of it!
Being a Cancer born eighteen minutes in time before an exact Capricorn Full Moon, I know this energy better than most. I also know the pressure that we can put on ourselves, even when we are in the most tender of states... or the distance that we can give our emotions, even though there is a true need to have this awareness front row and center. It can be all too easy to go cold on the self, when the thing we may need most is warmth, making this point in time one that can bring a profound sense of melancholy if our emotional selves still need attention. This axis - commonly referred to as the Mother & the Father - pulls us between states of unconditional and conditional love. It's time to move away from self-imposed distance or constriction fostered from the desire to control, so that we can move into a more fluid place that fosters growth, love, and connection no matter what the condition.
Exact on Tuesday, July 16th at 2:38pm PDT - this Lunar Eclipse in a cardinal earth sign is helping to find a healthy balance between the emotional world and practical mundane reality. We are all doing our best to establish greater security at this time, and sometimes that first starts with filtering our emotional awareness through a pragmatic lens, so we can still get to the heart of our feelings, yet not drown in potential insecurities that ebb and flow along the way. A lot of us may now be settling into the feeling of "ready" - where you are now ready to embark upon a new chapter, both physically and emotionally... for much of what is apexing in this moment is powerfully releasing the past to set up the great change that 2020 has in store for us.
The Aspects - Navigating Stormy Seas đ
Below is a chart of our Full Moon at the time of conjunction here in San Diego, CA. A majority of the lunar action has already taken place before Luna reaches her opposition with the Sun, so the 48 hours leading up to the eclipse are likely to be quite telling. We also have Venus conjuncting the North Node and opposing Saturn, while Mars is moving ahead in Leo to form a trine with Jupiter in Sagittarius. So let's not waste any time and dive right in...
So you may have noticed that I have a ship sailing the stormy seas as my imagery for this eclipse lunation! As Luna moves through conjunctions with Jupiter, Saturn, the South Node, and Pluto before apexing to maximum brightness, the need for growth brings about a density of energy to be encountered before the eclipse perfects. The Sagittarius energy that permeated the weekend likely brightened things up and brought opportunities our way, or at the very least some positive assessments of the future that lies ahead... yet, once Capricorn settles in, the Saturnine energy starts to concretize and a weightiness falls upon us. We know the work that lies ahead, and many of us are feeling that "readiness" that I described earlier as it's time to get to work. Chances are something that was seeding in January of this year is now ready to blossom forth, and it's going to take our patience, commitment and due diligence to get this project underway.
With our full moon eclipse ruler being Saturn in Capricorn, those duties and responsibilities are certainly at the forefront and many may find they are needing our attention at this time. Yet we may still need to constrict and close down in areas, as it's time to exile and distance ourselves from what is no longer working, so other projects can now have a chance to be practically built. Hence the title of my article, "Practical Navigation" - because we can now apex into a pragmatic conclusion, as we are emotionally coming to realizations of where our priorities now lie while nurturing the use of personal resources that are needed in order to make these directives a reality. We can now cut out the past b.s. that may have ruled us before, in favor of listening to the heart and providing the tender awareness needed to nurture yourself through any transition or new beginning. Emotional maturity is likely a good place to start.
Now Lunar Eclipses, and any oppositions really, tend to tap into the relationship dynamic and chances are that connections with others are lit up at this time... not only because of the eclipse, but also with Venus in Cancer conjunct the North Node in opposition to Saturn in Capricorn who is conjunct the South Node, our planet of relations and creative births is being put to the test. Especially in Cancer, Venus takes on that motherly, birthing energy, and with her configured to the North Node, we are all birthing something into being at this time that is pitted against our ability to dedicate ourselves and accept the duties and commitments that lies ahead. To create the new we have to release the structures of the past, and now is the perfect time to open up to the heart based potential which is coming into fruition at this time. So listen to your gut, and if there are emotions and needs that long to be expressed, now may be the time to set new boundaries so a richness of life can flow back in now that there is a solid knowing of what the self needs.
Many twists and turns, along with emotionally disruptive moments have likely taken place since our Solar Eclipse on July 2nd - all necessary of course to redirect our energy accordingly. With Mercury RX meeting Mars while the two simultaneously squared Uranus, there was a fixed course of energy that was disrupted so we can move into new promise. Luckily our action planet Mars is on its way to trine the expanding vibration of Jupiter on July 25th, with the Sun to to follow on August 7th, so we have a rush of positivity and enthusiasm headed our way, as further inspiration flows in... so if you find yourself a bit melancholy at this time, look to the fires that burn in the distance, for this time spent in the density of our current reality will provide the realizations necessary to grasp this growth spurt energy that is right around the corner.
The Symbol - Under The Rug đ§š
If you are a previous reader of my astroblog, you know I like to look at the Sabian Symbol of the lunation as it adds another bit of depth to the story that we are telling. As always, we take the degree and minutes and round up. Here we have the following:
25° Capricorn - "An oriental rug dealer."
Keyword: Consignment
Theme: Spiritual Materialism
I found this to be quite an intriguing symbol for this lunar eclipse! Immediately the relationship dynamic came out to play in my mind, and I could hear April Elliott Kent in my head when she said on EP Podcast #59 - "if anything has been swept under the rug, it will come out with this lunar eclipse!" And yes, I think that is the case.... not only in relationships, but if we have been in some sort of denial with ourselves or tucking some feelings away, they will now need to be addressed.
I also like this symbol in its decorative nature, as oriental rugs are considered lavish, exotic, and rather expensive... and with the rug being something we stand on our lay upon our foundation, there is the notion of raising our bar to higher values and greater substance in the material world. Yet the foreign nature of these rugs suggests that we are laying down a footing that is new and uncharted, and with their decorative beauty, we are also seeking to stand upon our ideals. So let's open up to the idealistic appeal of spirit in its raw form, as we seek to manifest and blanket our reality with a practical yet attractive new foundation.
Full Moon Blessings to All!! đŤ
Well here we are at a dynamic turning point for not only 2019, as this lunation plays deeply into the energy that will perfect in 2020! Even though deep changes are happening with old structures and aspects of ourselves coming to an end at this time, others are being born to be further architected in the months to come. So envision what you'd like to build, and get to work!
Wishing everyone a grounding lunar eclipse!
May the stars be with you!!! â¨â¨â¨
